stanzy is a discussion service where every post ends in a small set of choices. This policy describes exactly what the service stores, why, and how to get rid of it. It reflects what the software actually does rather than what services of this kind usually claim.
What we collect
When you sign in with Google we receive and store your email address, display name, profile picture and Google account identifier. We never receive your Google password.
We store what you create: posts and their choices, images you upload, comments, votes, likes, follows and reports.
We store how you use the feed: which posts were shown to you, how long they stayed on screen, which you expanded or opened, and which you voted on, commented on or shared. Each feed request is logged with the ranking signals that produced it so recommendation quality can be reviewed later.
Before you sign in — and this includes reading a link someone shared with you — your browser is given a random identifier so an anonymous vote can be counted once. It contains nothing about you. If you later sign in on the same browser, that activity moves to your account.
What we do not collect
There are no advertising or analytics trackers on this service, and no third-party cookies. Nothing about your behaviour is sold or shared with advertisers.
We do not use which side of a choice you picked to decide what to show you. Voting on a topic tells us you are interested in that topic; it is deliberately not used to show you more of one opinion. That is a design decision, not an omission.
We do not publish a page of your voting history. A vote is visible only next to a comment you chose to write.
Why we store it
To run the service: sign you in, show your posts and comments, count votes once per person, and notify you when someone replies.
To order the feed: your interests and what you engage with decide which posts you see first.
To keep the service usable: reports, blocks and rate limits depend on knowing who did what.
Who else can see it
The service runs on Vercel (hosting, content delivery and image storage) and Neon (database, hosted in Singapore). Both process data on our behalf under their own terms.
Google receives your sign-in request when you choose to sign in.
Fonts are loaded from jsDelivr, which will see your IP address as any file host would.
We do not otherwise share your data. We disclose it only where the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Until you delete it. You can delete individual posts and comments at any time, and you can delete your whole account from Profile → Edit.
Deleting your account removes the account and everything attached to it — posts, comments, votes, likes, follows and behavioural records. It is immediate and cannot be undone.
Your choices
You can read posts, vote and see results without an account at all.
You can change your display name, bio and photo at any time in Profile → Edit.
You can ask what we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by writing to the address below.
Cookies
We set a sign-in cookie, an anonymous visitor identifier, a short-lived security token during sign-in, a language preference, and — if you arrived through a shared link — a token recording which link brought you. That is all of them. None are used for advertising.
Children
This service is not intended for people under 14. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 14, we will delete it.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we will say so in the service before the change takes effect.
